What Is Murray The Cat
Productions?
Murray The Cat Productions is the imprint of Timothy J. Wood, a
writer and journalist who lives on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Murray
The Cat Production’s first book is BREAKTHROUGH: THE STORY OF
CHATHAM’S NORTH BEACH, which will be released in June 2002. A
second book, UNBLOCKED: 20 YEARS OF WRITER’S BLOCK, will be
published in summer 2005.
Both books are written by Wood, who
is editor of THE CAPE COD CHRONICLE, a weekly newspaper in
Chatham, Massachusetts, which is located on the elbow of Cape Cod.
BREAKTHROUGH details the history of North [Nauset] Beach, a
barrier beach which goes through a cycle of building up and
breaching, periodically exposing Chatham’s eastern shore to
catastrophic erosion. The latest breach, in 1987, destroyed nine
shorefront homes in the exclusive resort town and washed away
acres of priceless beachfront property. Much of the book
chronicles the battle shorefront owners fought to protect their
property.
UNBLOCKED collects 20 years of Wood’s
award-winning newspaper column, Writers Block. Topics range from
local politics to movies and life in Chatham, and show how both
the author and the community have changed over the past two
decades. With a cover by noted cartoonist and illustrator Bob
Staake, UNBLOCKED unlocks the mind of one of the area’s most
enduring and intriguing scribes.
